C-SASI offers educational programs, training, and certification for anyone currently working in the sex addiction/partner trauma fields or for anyone who wants to become better equipped to give support to those affected by these issues. As a Christian organization, C-SASI believes that God and Faith are important to overcoming the power of addiction. The Christian tradition has time-tested resources to battle sin and suffering. The Gospels give us a clear picture of why having an authentic and covenant-based relationship with God and others is challenging yet possible, and a life-giving remedy to sin and suffering. What distinguishes our advanced training and mentorship levels are that they:

  • are built on clinical sex and porn addiction/partner trauma best practices

  • are founded on Christian principles and in a Christian worldview

  • include both one-on-one and group learning opportunities

  • include both online and face-to-face mentoring opportunities

  • allow you to work with a variety of experts in the field

  • covers a wide variety of topics addressing both addiction and trauma

Following completion of each level (Levels 1, 2, and 3) along with the supervised mentorship, clinical and coaches candidates can apply for a certificate of certification for that level. You need not complete all three levels to become certified. However, upon completion of all 3 levels, C-SASI certified candidates will also be noted as partner specialists and can apply to become C-SASI trainers. For clergy (pastors, lay pastors, lay leaders, spiritual directors, etc.) only Level 1 plus two additional modules, along with the supervised mentorship, is required. After completion, the candidate can apply to become C-SASI Certified Pastoral Sex Addiction Specialist.

Clinical Training, LEVELS 1-3

Following foundational, clinical training in:

  • Sex Addiction, by AACC, AASAT, IITAP (or another approved educational or training programs), and / or

  • Partner Trauma, by APSATS (or another approved educational or training program)

Our clinical training, Levels 1-3, will give clinicians and coaches all you will need to know about treating sex/porn addiction and its traumatic impact on spouses and family. Our training presupposes that you already have the necessary training, degrees, and licensure in your field but that you could benefit from our expertise in the treatment of sex addiction clients and betrayed partners. Moreover, there is an opportunity to engage in a specialization relevant to the trainee's clinical practice. All learning will be grounded in a Christian worldview.

We’ll show you how to develop an effective treatment and relapse prevention plan for addicts and a program of help, support, and healing for betrayed spouses.

We believe having a relational and spiritual component is essential for any Christian-based treatment program. We do not take a simplistic approach that focuses on only addiction basics but rather an approach that seeks the health of the whole person and his or her relationships. Healing that lasts must address the deeper roots of the addiction and help clients create healthy relationships capable of supporting continued recovery and sobriety.

Topics addressed include: The Basics of Sex/Porn Addiction; Addiction’s Impact on the Brain and Autonomic Nervous System; Impact of Trauma and Family of Origin Issues; Developing a Recovery Treatment/Relapse Prevention Plan for Sex Addiction; Understanding Betrayal Trauma; Helping Spouses Heal and Improving Communication; Healing and Restoring Ruptured Relationships; Bringing Christian Spirituality & Faith into Your Sessions/Practice.

Certification is offered after the completion of each level, as well as the supervised mentorship requirement, and the candidate will be registered as Certified Clinical Sex Addiction Specialist: CCSAS-1, CCSAS-2, CCSAS-3 (Those who complete all three levels will have additional the certification CCPS (Certified Clinical Partner Specialist).

After completion of all three levels, Certified Clinicians can apply to be C-SASI Level 1 trainers.

Please note: if you are already certified as a CSAT or a CSOTP please email us, include your CV and contact information, and we will follow up to discuss customized options for C-SASI certification.

Clergy (Pastoral) Training, LEVELS 1-2

No prerequisites, however:

  • Clergy, Pastors, Pastoral Counselors, Youth Ministers, Spiritual Directors, Lay Pastors, Church Administrators, etc. must show they have the experience or training necessary to hold a pastoral/clergy position.

Our pastoral training overlaps with the Clinical/Coaches training “Level 1” but has an additional 2 modules to be completed after Level 1 is finished. Once Level 1, the additional modules, and the supervised mentorship program are completed, pastoral candidates can then apply to registered as C-SASI Certified Pastoral Sex Addiction Specialist.

Our Level 1 topics are the same (see above), but for pastors the focus and scope of each topic will be uniquely suited for clergy, giving anyone serving in a pastoral role the necessary tools to address sex/pornography addiction and betrayal in individuals and families but also in the church and Christian community. The two additional modules will address topics specific to clergy/pastors.

Our Pastoral Training at the same time we begin the Clinical/Coaches Training: May 10, 2024
